Taj Mahal add-on

An overnight on Friday, February 3 is included at the end of the Gujarat tour. If you are traveling with us to Agra, we’ll depart the morning of February 4 for Agra, and return to Delhi the following evening on February 5 for our flights home (or wherever your journeys take you).

Day 1 – Delhi – Agra
Saturday, February 4, 2023
Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast, we’ll make the drive to Agra (approximately 4 hours) with our guide and driver.

Upon arrival, we’ll check into the hotel and have lunch (on our own). In the late afternoon, we’ll then head to Mehtab Bagh‎ (Moonlight Garden). Built in the early 1500s, the location for this garden complex was chosen because of its perfect view of the Taj Mahal, directly across the bank from the Yamuna River.

Dinner (on our own) and overnight in Agra at ITC Mughal or similar.

Day 2 – Agra – Delhi
Sunday, February 5, 2023
Meals: Breakfast

Today, we’ll get up very early to see the Taj Mahal for sunrise! Truly one of the most breathtaking sights in the world, it’s made even more beautiful during the early light of day.

Built by Emperor Shah Jahan, the Taj is a white marble memorial to his wife Mumtaz Mahal. This monument took 22 years to be completed and stands out due to its elegant domes, intricately carved screens and some of the best inlay work ever seen.

After our visit, we’ll return to the hotel for a full breakfast (and coffee!!).

On the return drive back to Delhi, we’ll make one final stop to tour Agra Fort. This is where Shah Jahan, after being deposed by his son, was imprisoned until his death.

Back in Delhi, we’ll have a hotel room near the airport and the chance to have dinner (on our own). This gives us a landing spot for the evening as most international flights depart very late at night. If yours is early the next day, you can overnight here.

Overnight at the Andaz or similar near airport.

Land costs: $795
Single supplement: $225

Booking and Payment Details

Price includes: 2 nights accommodation, 2 meals, land transportation, local guide, tips for guide and driver, and entry into all activities listed in itinerary.

Price does not include: Flights to and from India, in-country flights, visa, travel insurance (highly recommended), Covid-19 testing (if required) and purchases of personal nature such as souvenirs and beverages.

Final payment is due no later than November 23, 2022 and is invoiced at the same time as the Gujarat tour.
