Cuba

What worked for me on this trip?
Gah! Everything! I’m going through Cuba withdrawals! TAKE ME BACK! Everything was a peak experience. Every single thing we did. Maybe the best surprise was the car-parade at the end. Mojito making class was super fun, but the Canchancharra (cocktail at the hotel) haunts my dreams. Lauren V.M.

This trip gave us a short but balanced insight into Cuba and its people and unique problems. I fell in love with the people and their zest for life. Having lived and traveled through much of Central and South America I thought I was comfortable with my expectations, but the current atmosphere (in Cuba) both humanitarian and political surprised me. There was so much information that the U.S. gives us limited access to. It was life changing to see it in person. I had to change everything I thought I knew about humanity. You can read all you want, but to see it in person is a profound experience. Glenis C.

I really enjoyed the various meetings with local Cubans – the professor of sociology, the female entrepreneurs, the farm family and the various artisans in Trinidad. Plus there were fabulous eating experiences throughout! Jackie B.

The diversity of experiences worked well on this tour. And without the (local) guides – no way could we have seen the true Cuba with all of its back story. Diana D.

Everything worked well on this trip! Loved the tour guides, the itinerary, the entertainment, the restaurants, the hotel in Havana and especially the B&B in Trinidad (lovely host people). I didn’t feel rushed even though we did a lot. I would have never found all of those places to go to. That took a lot of work.  Ellen W.

It would be impossible to book something like this tour on your own if you don’t speak Spanish. Most people just wouldn’t have the connections. I really enjoyed the musicians on the roof. It spoke to the joy of music and how much music is a part of their culture. Gayle E.

Beth seems to attract women travelers who become immediate friends. That’s unique and such a treat. This is my third trip with Beth and each has been wonderful. The Cuba tour guides were wonderful and the itinerary was fascinating and well laid out. Linda R.

The opportunity to learn from and interact with so many local women in Cuba was the highlight of this trip. It was well worth the cost. This seemed like a difficult trip to plan, organize and execute, but it was such a powerful learning experience. Carol S.A.

The women we met, the knowledge we gained and the friendships we made this tour worth it. EVERYTHING worked well on this trip. I know that is not specific, but we were nervous about money, drinking water, etc…all these worries just melted away. Beth made certain we were are all cared for and that we were safe and sound. Hessa T.

The trip to the tobacco farm, cooking class, jazz performance, dancing class, learning about the app that people sign up for to get medical supplies – these were all highlights for me. Judy P.

It widened my horizon as I became more knowledgeable about the culture of this country. The cooking class and the visit to the pineapple/tobacco farm were highlights. The tour guide, Yadi, was extremely knowledgeable and exceptionally accommodating. Bettye R.

I had a great time! It was a good combination of sights and cultural experiences and Vinales Valley was a highlight. I really enjoyed staying at the Lofts in Havana. It was nice to have a safe, clean, comfortable place to escape to after touring the city all day. The rooftop bar was especially comforting and the staff were very helpful and sweet. Also, our guide and driver were excellent! Denise K.

It was wonderful…well-paced with diverse exposure to Cuban history, modern culture and the people. I loved the unique experiences, ranging from visiting the tobacco farm and proprietors to the lecture by the Cuban sociologist about the current culture, to name a couple. I really enjoyed the visit to Trinidad, but there were many highlights. Also, Yadi and Rudolf, the guides, were wonderful. Tina M.

It was an excellent experience, leaving me even more curious about Cuba, its culture and its place in today’s world. The broad variety of experiences kept us very occupied but not overly busy or stressed. If traveling to Cuba, come with an open mind (and hopefully a bag of medical supplies that are desperately needed by the Cuban people!). Anna B.

I had a fantastic time. The women were great to get to know. The farm experience was amazing. The trio you had come to play for us…WOW. LOVED IT. Gorgeous night, gorgeous sky and great music!!! The staff in the Loft were also helpful. I loved Trinidad. Some of us went swimming in the Caribbean. It was wonderful. Overall, amazing trip! Linda W.
