Our adventure starts in Ushuaia on November 23, 2026 after our Antarctica tour. If you are not joining us for Antarctica, you’re welcome to meet us in Ushuaia and fly with us to El Calafate OR meet us in El Calafate and begin the tour from there.

Patagonia Tour Itinerary – November 23 – 30, 2026

Day 1 – Ushuaia – El Calafate – El Chaltén
Monday, November 23, 2026
Meals: N/A

For those disembarking from the Plancius expedition ship from Antarctica: After breakfast we’ll disembark at the port and head to the airport for our flight to El Calafate.

Upon arrival in El Calafate, we’ll be met by a driver and make the drive to El Chaltén (about 2.5 hours). There, we’ll check into our hotel and meet with our local guide for an overview of our adventures while in El Chaltén, an area legendary for its world-class hiking trails. We’ll spend three nights here, giving us two full days to hike some of the region’s most iconic routes and soak in jaw-dropping views of Mount Fitz Roy.

We’ll settle in and enjoy some well-earned downtime so we’re ready for tomorrow’s hike.

Dinner is on your own, with plenty of great options in town.

Overnight at Chaltén Suites Hotel or similar in El Chaltén.

Day 2 – Laguna de Los Tres
Tuesday, November 24, 2026
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

After breakfast, we’ll meet our guide and head out for the unforgettable hike to Laguna de los Tres, widely considered one of the most spectacular hikes in southern Patagonia.

We’ll start at Puente del Río Eléctrico, making our way to Piedras Blancas Glacier viewpoint, where we’ll be rewarded with close-up glacier views and waterfalls.

The trail continues to Poincenot Camp, offering dramatic views of jagged peaks including Saint Exupéry, Poincenot, Mermoz and the iconic Mount Fitz Roy.

Hiking path near El Chalten

From here, the hike becomes more challenging as we head up a steep, rocky ascent to Laguna de los Tres. This is the closest and most jaw-dropping viewpoint of Fitz Roy. We’ll take time to soak it all in and enjoy a boxed lunch with a view before descending via a different trail that passes beautiful Laguna Capri.

Note: This is a long hike (about 14 miles total). The most demanding section is the final ascent to the viewpoint, which is optional. Those who prefer can skip this steeper section.

We’ll return to El Chaltén in the late afternoon, with the evening free for dinner on your own, a stop for local ice cream and a very well-earned rest.

Overnight at Chaltén Suites Hotel or similar in El Chaltén.

Day 3 – Chorrillo del Salto Hike
Wednesday, November 25, 2026
Meals: Breakfast, Snack

After breakfast, we’ll meet our guide and head to a nearby trailhead for a relaxed morning hike to Chorrillo del Salto waterfall.

This easy, scenic walk (just over two miles) winds through forested trails and opens up to sweeping views of El Chaltén, the Río de las Vueltas valley and iconic peaks like Cerro Torre and Mount Fitz Roy. About 1.5 hours in, we’ll reach the waterfall, where we’ll stop for a snack, enjoy the scenery and snap a few photos before heading back the same way.

Mount Fitz Roy

We’ll return to town in time for lunch on your own and a restful afternoon.

If you’re feeling energetic, you can do another hike in the afternoon on your own, as there are lots of options on these trails!

Dinner will be on your own tonight at the hotel or a nearby restaurant.

Overnight at Chaltén Suites Hotel or similar in El Chaltén.

Day 4 – El Chálten – El Calafate
Thursday, November 26, 2026
Meals: Breakfast

This morning we’ll enjoy a leisurely breakfast before setting off on the scenic 2.5-hour drive to El Calafate. We’ll make a few stops along the way to stretch our legs, grab a snack, use the restroom and snap photos of the Patagonian landscape.

Patagonia

Upon arrival, we’ll check into our hotel, and the rest of the afternoon is yours to enjoy. You can relax, explore, do a little souvenir shopping or head out for dinner at one of El Calafate’s many great restaurants.

Overnight at Kau Yatun Hotel or similar in El Calafate.

Day 5 – El Calafate (Perito Moreno Glacier)
Friday, November 27, 2026
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

After breakfast, we’ll meet our guide and driver and head to Parque Nacional Los Glaciares, enjoying incredible scenery along the way. At the port, we’ll board a boat and cruise across Rico Lake, with spectacular views (and calving) of Perito Moreno Glacier.

Once there, expert mountain guides will introduce us to glaciology, helping us understand how this massive river of ice was shaped. After a safety briefing, we’ll gear up with crampons, helmets and harnesses, and take a walk on the glacier.

Perito Moreno Glacier

During this one-hour glacier hike, we’ll see dramatic ice formations, deep crevasses, blue moulins, towering seracs and turquoise pools.

After the glacier hike, we’ll enjoy our boxed lunch before boarding the boat again for an up-close look at the glacier’s south face. This will bring us even closer to the glacier’s wall and its calving ice.

Back on land, we’ll take a guided walk along the paths directly across from the glacier, giving us yet another view of ice calving as massive chunks break away.

Note: The glacier walk is considered moderately challenging due to the uneven ice surface, though it is very safe and fully guided.

We’ll return to town, where you can relax, do a little souvenir shopping or head out for dinner at one of El Calafate’s many great restaurants.

Overnight at Kau Yatun Hotel or similar in El Calafate.

Day 6 – El Calafate – Bariloche
Saturday, November 28, 2026
Meals: Breakfast, Snacks

After breakfast, we’ll head to the airport for our flight to the charming town of Bariloche, known as the Switzerland of Argentina. We’ll arrive in the early afternoon and head directly to our hotel to drop off our bags. If rooms are not available, we’ll drop off our luggage in a secure storage area.

Bariloche Church

From the hotel, we’ll set out to explore the area, starting with Mount Otto. We’ll board a cable car at the base and ride nearly 7,000 feet to the summit, where we’ll take time to wander and enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views of the Andes Mountains, Nahuel Huapi Lake and the town of Bariloche below.

From here, we’ll continue to a nearby trailhead for a scenic walk through a lenga forest. This is Patagonia’s iconic old-growth tree, perfectly adapted to the region’s rugged climate. The hike will be about two hours and offers a peaceful immersion in nature.

Afterward, we’ll return to the hotel with the rest of the afternoon free to relax or explore Bariloche, a very walkable town.

Dinner is on your own this evening, with plenty of excellent restaurants to choose from. You might even find yourself full from sampling chocolates from the countless quality chocolate shops in town!

Overnight at Cacique Inacayal Lake & Spa Hotel or similar in Bariloche.

Day 7 – Bariloche
Sunday, November 29, 2026
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

After breakfast, we’ll set out on a half-day tour of the area, following the Short Circuit of San Carlos de Bariloche. This is a scenic route that showcases some of the region’s most iconic sights.

View in Bariloche

We’ll stop at classic viewpoints along the way, including Cerro Campanario and the famed Hotel Llao Llao, soaking in vistas of lakes, forests and mountains.

To cap off our time in Patagonia, we’ll enjoy a 1.5-hour easy hike through Llao Llao Natural Park, with beautiful views of Lake Moreno and Lake Nahuel Huapi. We’ll then head to a local microbrewery for lunch, our final official meal together!

After lunch, we’ll return to the hotel with time to relax, do some last-minute souvenir shopping or get packed up for our departure tomorrow.

Dinner is on your own tonight with many restaurant options.

Overnight at Cacique Inacayal Lake & Spa Hotel or similar in Bariloche.
