Mention New Orleans and certain images immediately pop into your brain. The French Quarter, Mardi Gras, music and food amongst them. It’s a destination that many of us have on our ‘must-experience’ list. I do, and that’s why I’m so excited to be joining the 2014 New Orleans Culinary tour!
Gumbo, jambalaya, po-boys and grits, all names you probably recognize, but unless you’ve lived in the South, may never have tasted. Join us on this tour and you’ll have plenty of opportunity to explore all the taste sensations that this fabulous city has to offer. We’re going to dine at some iconic restaurants and learn how to prepare a few typical New Orleans dishes in a hands-on cooking class.
We’ll be staying at the beautiful Bourbon Orleans Hotel in the center of the historic French Quarter. In addition to the organized activities, we’ll have free time to explore on our own – you may find yourself whiling away an afternoon sipping a café au lait and nibbling a beignet at Cafe du Monde or exploring the galleries and boutiques on Royal Street.
In addition to the culinary highlights, this tour includes:
- A walking tour of the French Quarter
- A visit to two plantations
- The chance to learn about the devastation of Hurricane Katrina and how the city is being rebuilt
- A Hop-On, Hop-Off bus tour including Mardi Gras World
I’m happy to be sharing this experience with some of my friends from the 2012 Santa Fe Tour and am already counting the months – hope you decide to join us! Don’t wait too long as this tour is already 3/4 booked! Give us a call (206-317-1860) or Contact Us via email and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you might have!
Embrace life,
Pat
