How to Apply for a Visa: Vietnam and Cambodia

WanderTours > FAQ > Vietnam Travel Tips and Advice > How to Apply for a Visa: Vietnam and Cambodia

How to Apply for a Visa: Vietnam

Citizens from the U.S. and Canada will need a visa to enter Vietnam. Your passport must be valid for at least six months following your arrival date and have two blank pages.

E-visas are $25 U.S. and are issued with a validity period of up to 90 days. Applications are processed in 3-5 business days, but we suggest that you apply at least two weeks prior to your departure in case of delays.

Here is a link to information about the online application for the e-Visa with instructions and the application.

You will need to upload a photo of your passport data page as well as a passport photo (or a photo similar to your current passport photo).

We will email you the details that you need to input on the “Information About The Trip” section of the application.

How to Apply for a Visa: Cambodia

Although U.S and Canadian citizens can get the Cambodia Visa on arrival at the airport in Siem Reap, we highly recommend that you get your visa in advance due to the long lines at the airport.

Note that your passport must be valid for at least 6 months with two empty pages in addition to the two needed for Vietnam.

Here is a link to the online visa for Cambodia. You can pay with a credit card and download the eVisa certificate from the website or your email.

The e-visa for tourists is $30 U.S. and is issued with a validity period of 90 days. Applications are processed in 3-5 business days, but we suggest that you apply at least two weeks prior to your departure in case of delays. Based on when you apply, you may receive a message that says, “Your entry date is long! We will be processing approval near your entry date.” You can still send the application in and you will receive approval of your visa closer to your date of travel.

You will need to upload a photo of your passport data page as well as a passport photo (or a photo similar to your current passport photo).

We will email you the address for the place that you are staying.

UK ETA – for anyone transiting through the UK

Effective January 8, 2025, all U.S. citizens transiting the UK or traveling to the UK for tourism, family visits, business meetings, conference, or short-term study for 6 months or less will require an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) prior to travel.

Here is a link to information on the ETA. The cost is 10 euros per person and can be paid by credit card. Note that processing can take up to three days or more.

The easiest way to apply is to use the phone app UK ETA. To use the app, you will need a photo of your passport and a photo of yourself. If you are applying on behalf of someone else, you can apply online rather than using the phone app. Here is a link with information for the application process.
